A FUNNY WAY TO LEARN
Jolly English es un nuevo concepto de aprendizaje basado en el método “Topic Based Learning”, a través del cual se busca conseguir que los alumnos adquieran vocabulario nuevo de una gran variedad de temas pero con un objetivo claro: pasarlo bien.
En cada sesión, se introducirán nuevos términos y se practicará a través de juegos y distintas rutinas el uso de los mismos. Nuestros alumnos ganarán fluidez y aprenderán a desenvolverse en distintos ambientes temáticos.

May 4, 1494 During his second journey of exploration in the New World, Christopher Columbus discovered Jamaica.
May 1, 1960 An American U-2 spy plane flying at 60,000 feet was shot down over Sverdlovsk in central Russia on the eve of a summit meeting between President Dwight D. Eisenhower and Soviet Russia’s Premier Nikita Khrushchev. The sensational incident caused a cancellation of the meeting and heightened existing Cold War tensions.
May 5, 1961 Alan Shepard became the first American in space. He piloted the spacecraft Freedom 7 during a 15-minute 28-second suborbital flight that reached an altitude of 116 miles (186 kilometers) above the earth.
May 1, 2004 Eight former Communist nations and two Mediterranean countries joined the European Union (EU) marking its largest-ever expansion. The new members included Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, along with the island of Malta and the Greek portion of the island of Cyprus.

Memorial Day
United States of America
Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. At first it was known as Decoration Day and its origins date back to the years following the Civil War. It became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, it marks the beginning of the summer season.

During the month of May, England observe an important ancient tradition: MAY DAY, a public holiday usually celebrated on May 1st. The earliest May Day celebrations appeared with the Floralia or festival of Flora, the Roman goddess of flowers. Similar traditions were the Walpurgis Night of the Germanic countries and the Gaelic god Beltane. Traditional English May Day rites and celebrations include crowning a May Queen and celebrations involving a maypole.

Receta para el éxito
Te ofrecemos unas simples pautas que te ayudarán a estudiar de forma más efectiva el idioma inglés:
- Usa un cuaderno exclusivamente para Inglés.
- Al inicio de cada nueva unidad de tu libro de texto, haz listas de vocabulario y estructuras gramaticales. Los libros de texto normalmente contienen glosarios: úsalos, pero añade también todo el vocabulario nuevo que vaya apareciendo.
- Haz los deberes diariamente. Esto te ayudará a consolidar el vocabulario y la gramática aprendida ese día en clase.
- Crea el hábito de ver películas o las series de tu preferencia en inglés, con o sin subtítulos. Muchos alumnos se quejan de que pasan más tiempo leyendo subtítulos que viendo la película. Al principio es así pero, si continúas haciéndolo, notarás la diferencia en dos semanas.
- Usa un buen diccionario bilingüe. Sería buena idea añadir a tu biblioteca un buen Thesaurus de antónimos y sinónimos.
- Práctica de ejercicios para lograr entender y aplicar las estructuras gramaticales. Los ejercicios pueden ser de tus libros de texto o de cualquier manual de ejercicios del mercado. Presta especial atención al estilo de ejercicios de examen que tu profesor/a da en clase.
- Céntrate en tus áreas más débiles e incrementa tu esfuerzo en esa dirección.
- Usa internet. Hay excelentes sitios web con ejercicios y lecturas cortas para todos los niveles. Las que te proveemos aquí son un punto de partida: WordReference (diccionario), AgendaWebb y Englishfeelgood (practicar ejercicios).
- El aprendizaje de cualquier idioma abre la puerta a un mundo nuevo. El inglés puede ser fácil y divertido si tu actitud cambia.
A Recipe for Success
We provide you with a few simple rules that will help you to study the English language in a much more effective way.
- Keep a special note book.
- Beginning with each new unit in your course book, make a detailed list of vocabulary. Text books usually contain a glossary for each unit; make good use of it but add any other words or conversational structure new to you.
- Do your homework on a daily basis, this will help you to consolidate vocabulary and grammar.
- Make a habit of watching films and mini-series in original version with or without subtitles. Many students complain that they spend more time readin subtitles than paying attention to the film. It may be so at first, but listening skills improve with practice. In less than two weeks you’ll experience a remarkable improvement.
- Use a good bilingual dictionary. It might be useful to add to your home library an English Thesaurus.
- In order to understand fully grammar structures, practice daily exercises, either from your text book or any other grammar & exercise book. Pay attention to the kind of exercises your teacher provides in the classroom.
- Pay special attention to your weakest areas and double your efforts in that direction.
Use Internet. There are excelent websites with exercises and short readings: WordReference, AgendaWebb, Englishfeelgood.
- If you feel overwhelmed, unable to focus, find help as soon as possible. Do not wait until the last moment.
- Learning a foreign language is an open door to new experiences, new cultures, a whole new way of living. English can be easy and fun if your attitude changes.

Summer Film Club Workshop 2017
(Taller Cine de verano 2017)
Summer Film Club Workshop 2017 está diseñado para aquellos alumnos que deseen mejorar sus destrezas orales y de comprensión del idioma inglés.
El Film Club Workshop requiere al menos un nivel —acreditado o no— PET (B1) avanzado, FCE (B2), CAE (C1) o CPE (C2). Se extenderá durante los meses de julio y agosto, en dos módulos diferentes, con una duración de 4 horas semanales (2 horas por sesión). La selección de películas, documentales y cortometrajes se hará en función del nivel de los grupos.
Los objetivos a conseguir son:
- Desarrollar destrezas de lectura rápida a través de subtítulos en inglés.
- Consolidar destrezas de comprensión oral.
- Estudio de vocabulario y expresiones coloquiales.
- Explorar los contextos históricos, sociales y políticos que presenten las películas y llevarlos a cabo en forma de debate en inglés.
- Mejorar las destrezas escritas de los géneros de ensayo y crítica de cine mediante el uso de conectores y estructuras adecuadas al estilo que se esté trabajando en el momento.
- Debates y presentaciones en clase.
El Film Club Workshop es una alternativa divertida y muy gratificante para todos aquellos que aspiren a mejorar su nivel de Inglés. Reserva tu plaza a tiempo ya que para asegurar la máxima calidad y atención personalizada el cupo de las sesiones será de un máximo de 6 alumnos.
